Two villagers died while eating at a road-side khanom chin (Thai rice noodle) shop when a pickup truck smashed into them in Krabi at noon on Saturday, police said.
The accident happened on the Sinpoon-Lamthab road in Moo 2 village in Tambon Khokhan in Krabi’s Khao Phanom district.
Police identified the two victims as Somchai Maithong, 51, and Pornthiwa Boonthong, 42.
The shop owner escaped the accident as she had left to buy more knanom chin.
The pickup driver, Somporn Krainara, 24, was slightly injured. He told police that he lost control at the curve and hit the shop because it was raining and the road was slippery.
