A grocery storeowner was shot dead in Narathiwat province on Wednesday morning in what police believe was a personal conflict.
The victim Zay Meulee, 66, was shot while riding a motorcycle to his shop in Narathiwat’s Ra Ngae district.
He sustained five gunshot wounds, including two to the head.
A police investigation suggested a gunman had fired at Zay from bushes along the roadside, and when he fell off his motorcycle, he was shot twice more execution-style.
Ra Ngae Police Station deputy superintendent Geoffrey Salaimarnkun said police believed the shooting was related to a personal conflict.
“He and his son-in-law were shot and injured once before,” Geoffrey said.
