Booking.com, the global tech company that connects travellers with places to stay, has announced an exclusive partnership with the Women in Tech initiative at this year’s Web Summit.

As part of this initiative, Web Summit and Booking.com are launching a mentoring programme for women.

Web Summit, one of the world’s most highly regarded technology events, brings together Fortune 500 companies, groundbreaking startups and world-class speakers to celebrate the latest advancements in technology.

The Women in Tech initiative was launched in 2015 and aims to encourage open discussion about gender diversity in the technology industry.

The new on-site mentoring programme will give attendees an opportunity to hear from some of the most inspiring women in the technology industry and have one-to-one sessions to help them to chart their own path in tech.

As part of this initiative, Web Summit has pledged to give away 14,000 tickets to women interested in attending the 2017 event in Lisbon, Portugal.

Since the start of this programme two years ago, the percentage of female attendees has risen to 42 per cent, which makes Web Summit one of the most gender balanced tech events globally.
