Hotel group Pentahotels has announced the appointment of Eugene Staal as president effective November 2017. Based in Frankfurt am Main in Germany, Staal will be overseeing the global operations and developments of the brand.

Prior to joining Pentahotels, Staal founded the apartment rental concept YawnWorld. He also founded MisterSteel, a consultancy delivering commercial concepts, strategic technical services and branding support to hospitality clients.

Staal brings with him over 25 years of experiences in corporate hospitality roles – from a corporate trainee at Grand Hyatt New York to senior management positions around the world, to eventually setting up Hyatt’s EAME office in Lausanne.

In 2006, Staal joined the executive team of Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group in Brussels, where he led the group through significant growth as senior vice president, technical services. He helped grow the Radisson Blu and Park Inn brands in Europe, Africa and Middle East.

Sonia Cheng, chief executive officer of Rosewood Hotel Group, Pentahotels’ parent company, said: “Throughout his career, Eugene has demonstrated a talent for entrepreneurial leadership, strong belief in a company’s culture as a brand, and has been active pioneer in having associates acting as entrepreneurs to represent the brand ethos.

“This vision perfectly aligns with Pentahotels’ culture, as we look to propel the brand and its new message, ‘We don’t do normal’, around the globe.”
