Thailand’s Department of Trade Negotiations were in negotiations with the European Union (EU) and Britain on amending the obligations on tariff-rate quotas for 31 product items under the World Trade Organisation (WTO).

The product items, ranging from tapioca, tapioca powder, white rice, brown rice, broken rice, processed fish, pasta, biscuit to ready-to-eat food will, after Britain exit, require re-allocation of quotas. Thailand has received the quotas from the EU, Oramon Sapthaweetham, the department’s director-general, said.

The department is following the Brexit closely as the exit deal is close to the March 29 deadline.
