Expedia Group, the global travel platform, on Tuesday revealed that international travellers had become the driving force behind the tourism boom in Thailand’s secondary destinations.

The company’s statistics show that nearly 90 per cent of the demand for travel to Chiang Rai, Koh Lipe (in Satun), Mae Hong Son, Trang and Trat had come from international travellers in the 12 months ending on June 30, and that the pace of overall inbound demand to these destinations had grown by 30 per cent, year on year.
