The Commerce Ministry has reported that the value of border trade between Thailand and the so-called CLMV countries - Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar and Vietnam – reached Bt339.29 billion in the first seven months of this year. This was up 2.5 per cent from the same period of last year.
Commerce Minister Apiradi Tantraporn said yesterday that border trade between Thailand and the CLMV countries amounted to half of the total trade value - at Bt678.42 billion – between the two sides for that period.
“Border trade between Thailand and CLMV has the potential to growth in consumer products, agricultural machinery, construction raw materials and motorcycle parts. As a result we will promote border trade for Thai
exporters and also for small and medium-sized enterprises to expand their market in CLMV,” she said.
