Bangkok Bank has hosted the board meeting of the Banking Industry Architecture Network (BIAN) at the InnoHub Space at Bangkok Bank’s head office on Silom Road.

Executive vice president Ian Guy Gillard welcomed the visitors and joined the meeting with the chairman of the board of BIAN, Steve Van Wyk.

Van Wyk is also executive vice president and head of technology and operations at PNC Financial Services Group in the United States. Other BIAN board directors in attendance included top IT executives from ABN AMRO Bank, Microsoft and IBM. Bangkok Bank is also a member of BIAN.

The meeting focused on software interoperability for financial services, with particular focus on standardised application program interfaces (APIs).

BIAN is an independent, not-for-profit association that promotes a world-class architectural framework for banking interoperability. BIAN standards are available as open source code.

There are four main member groups including many of leading financial institutions, leading software vendors, banking industry service providers, and academic institutions such as Carnegie Mellon University in the US.
