Essilor Distribution (Thailand), which describes itself as the world leader in the manufacture, assembly and distribution of optical lenses from France, has launched a new product aimed at tackling arm’s length vision.

The product is the new premium progressive Varilux X Series lens, which is designed to enhance the visual experience of presbyopes (those people who are experiencing vision degradation as eyes age naturally over time).

Essilor says it “has gone one step further in understanding the evolving needs of wearers, and putting them at the heart of its design process”.

The X Series is said to be Varilux’s best progressive lens.

The wearer will enjoy outstanding sharpness, continuous vision and easy fluidity from near-to-far, especially at arm’s-length vision, the company says.

Thissadee Tulyaanukij, managing director, Essilor Distribution (Thailand), said: “Essilor continues to invest in developing and inventing quality optical lenses to improve the lives of Thai people.”

The Varilux X Series lens was conceived in consultation 2,742 eyeglass wearers around the world. The research found that 95 per cent of respondents were satisfied with the lens performance while performing multitasking activities at arm's length.

Thissadeesaid: “The latest innovative product, the Varilux X Series, has been designed to meet the ever-changing expectations of Generation X, consumers born between 1965 and 1980, who are highly active, digitally connected and don’t want to be limited by their vision.

“But it’s also a progressive lens that ensures quality vision at every distance for all active presbyopes. Essilor goes one step further in understanding the evolving needs of wearers and putting them at the heart of its innovation process.”
