THAI Ticket Major is diversifying more into local sports events, travel and transit advertising to manage the uncertainties surrounding international entertainment shows.

Our team is talking with local football clubs and the Thai Premiere League to provide ticketing services for them, as local football leagues are becoming popular among audiences,” deputy managing director Komkrit Sirirat said yesterday.
Thai Ticket Major, the country’s largest ticketing service provider, wants to ensure that its overall business is going as targeted, though the overseas entertainment shows lined up for this year are secured.
The entertainment shows and concerts scheduled to be staged this year include Backstreet Boys’ “In a World Like This Tour”, Katy Perry’s “The Prismatic World Tour”, Disney’s “Beauty and The Beast – The Original Broadway Music Spectacular” and “Disney On Ice! Dare to Dream”, and One Direction’s “On The Road Again Tour 2015”.
These shows are one-off affairs, while local football games and tournaments are considered as frequent events.
“If we secure those deals, Thai Ticket Major will be at the centre of local sports ticketing,” he said.
Thai Ticket Major would also provide more ticketing services for local bus operators and advertisements on buses. The company aims to maintain entertainment shows at 70 per cent of sales while the rest will come from sports, transportation and advertising.
Ticket Major is a joint venture of BEC-TERO Entertainment and Major Cineplex, the country’s largest movie chain. BEC-TERO Entertainment is a leading promoter of entertainment and sports shows and a TV production house.
Pongpunt Wongnongteoi, strategic planning director at BEC-TERO Entertainment, said that in the past five years, ticketing revenues accounted for 90 per cent of the business of Thai Ticket Major.
However, after experiencing difficulties and uncertainties in the global economy and local business, ticketing fell to 70 per cent.
To encourage more ticket buyers to use its e-payment service, the company has collaborated with MasterCard to expand its customer base from Thailand to other Asean countries, including Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore and Vietnam.
Under this long-term arrangement, Thai Ticket Major will offer exclusive privileges for cardholders when purchasing tickets for live events.
