Volvo Car Thailand is ready to launch the new S90 Twin Engine AWD Plug-in Hybrid in September, with prices ranging from Bt3.1 million to Bt3.8 million.

The company is working towards “our vision to build a true car of the future,” said Chris Wailes, managing director, Volvo Car (Thailand) Co Ltd. “We are the first premium car brand to announce that from 2019 onwards, all new Volvos will be powered by an electric engine. Volvo worldwide is more than ready to move towards this vision.”

Volvo’s brand as a premium brand has high growth potential for Thailand, said Wailes, “especially with its new models that carry the unique Scandinavian identity and world-class safety innovation.”

World sales in 2016 were impressive with “the introduction of The All-New Volvo XC90, of which the XC90 T8 Twin Engine AWD plug-in hybrid contributed more than 15 per cent of the total sales. This phenomenon definitely reflected the consumers’ trend that is gearing towards cars powered by alternative energy sources.”

Additionally, the premium sedan, S90, the second flagship car, was introduced in Thailand and received great success at the end of 2016, added Wailes. And now, the company is officially introducing the S90 T8Twin Engine AWD plug-in hybrid to the market in September.

He added that the new S90 T8 Twin Engine AWD plug-in hybrid is expected to excite the premium saloon market.

"Volvo is one of the leaders of luxury car brands which announces their stance in promoting electric cars as its worldwide agenda, “said Wailes.

The energy saving technology “responds and directly to the policies of Thai government,” he said.
