Siam Piwat, the owner and management company of Siam Paragon, Siam Discovery, Siam Center and Paradise Park, has ridden a wave of success this year as it pioneers a new era in the retail industry.

The launch of Siam Center: The Ideaopolis has earned Siam Center a place on the international stage in the "Asia Pacific Shopping Centre Awards 2013", as part of a revolution that elevates Bangkok as a world-class hub of the retail industry.

Siam Piwat CEO Chadatip Chutrakul said the company was affirming the huge success of Siam Centre: The Ideaopolis, which was officially opened on January 11 this year.

Siam Center, he said, had achieved the status in the awards of "the Most Powerful Retail Phenomenon", which started a new chapter for the retail industry like no other in the world.

The revamped centre has earned its place at the international level and become one of Thailand's top shopping destinations, he added.

"We aimed to make a historical move in the retail industry by creating the latest prototype of a shopping destination.

Siam Center is no longer a shopping centre, as it has revolved and is reborn as The Ideaopolis - a centre of boundless imagination and creativity of aesthetic arts, fashion, technology and lifestyle, as well as the centre for the latest ideas and designs from the around the world.

"With Siam Center's power shift, Bangkok will be ranked among the world's top shopping and tourist destinations," said the chief executive.

The new look of Siam Center: The Ideaopolis, unveiled 11 months ago, made Siam Center a shopping destination that is not merely a place to sell products, but also a refreshing and gratifying shopping experience never before felt elsewhere, he said.

Siam Center succeeds in creating the most and best collaborations between the centre itself and top Thai and international brands, as well as globally famed artists, said Chadatip.

Moreover, it offers the Absolute Siam series, which consist of limited-edition products and services, exclusively available at Siam Center.

"Our events and promotional campaigns are designed to serve our customers with the best offers. All these elements have driven the official launch of Siam Center to be the most successful [period] in our 40 years of history.

"Our traffic has skyrocketed to an average of 150,000 Thai and [foreign] tourists per weekday, and over 200,000 shoppers per day during weekends, a 50-per-cent increase from the pre-revamp period," he said.
