Thai units of Canon, OCE complete integration

The integration of Oce (Thailand) into Canon Marketing (Thailand) Co has been completed, Canon announced.

This news follows the global announcement made on December 22, 2011, that Canon was the majority shareholder of Oce, enabling Canon to complete the integration for the benefit of customers.

The integration has created a company that can provide end-to-end document-imaging solutions, Canon says. The combined entity will provide different technologies, enhanced scale and a larger product portfolio in the print sphere to enterprise customers, said Kensaku Konishi, president and chief executive officer of Canon Singapore, who is responsible for leading and overseeing operations in South and Southeast Asia.

He added that both Canon and Oce were leaders that had consistently pushed the technology and service boundaries in the provision of print solutions.

"We share a history of constant technology innovation and absolute focus on the customer. With the integration complete, customers of both entities can look forward to an expanded range of products and enhanced services offering, which leverages the expertise of two giants in the print-solutions industry," he said.

The integration was overseen by Wataru Nishioka, president and CEO of Canon Marketing (Thailand).

Nishioka said the integration would strengthen Canon's position in the market, helping it achieve its goal of becoming the overall No 1 brand in the print-solution industry.

"I look forward to the opportunities that this new year will bring for our newly integrated company here in Thailand," he said.

The print-management industry is in a period of consolidation, driven by the fact that scale is increasingly important. Only companies that are able to improve profitability through increased scale and best-in-class processes and infrastructure will play a leading role in the industry, Canon says.

Oce, one of the world's leading providers of document management and printing for professionals, brings to Canon expertise in the areas of production printing, wide-format printing and business services. Combined with Canon's already comprehensive array of imaging solutions, customers are expected to benefit from an enlarged range of high-quality, innovative products and services.

By combining the strengths of both companies, Canon believes it will be a better position to address specific local-market conditions through expanded hardware, software and service capabilities.

The integration has created one of the largest print-management companies in Thailand. With its completion, 92 Oce Thailand staff have joined Canon Marketing (Thailand).
