Thai refineries operate at 86% capacity
Thai refineries have operated at 86 per cent of their capacity in 2013, according to the Federation of Thai Industries' Refinery Club.
Surong Bulakul, president of the club, said that the refineries have churned out 849,000 barrels per day on average, with the annualised value of Bt1.4 trillion.
Surong noted that Thai refineries have been following the government’s instructions; including the increase in legal reserves from 5 per cent of sale volume to 6 per cent, or to cover 43 days of sale volume from 36 days.
The extra reserves, imposed on November 1 to cope with emergencies, cost refineries about 12-15 satang per litre.
