THAI clarifies rumours
Thai Airways International denied the rumours that the company is being bankrupt and that some employees intentionally delayed some flights on January 5 to show supports to the anti-government protest.
In a statement released today, THAI’s Communication and Public Relations Department said that in its history, the company has never missed debt repayment. At the end of September 30, the assets were valued at approximately Bt315.9 billion, well above the combined debt and interest burden of Bt183.5 billion. The debt burden excludes expenses for 20 leased aircraft.
It noted that the financial stability is maintained and the company has plans to adjust its strategies to grow business.
Regarding on flight delays on January 5, it said that manpower shortage is being experienced at Suvarnabhumi Airport. The management has corrected the problem and apologised for passenger inconvenience.
