THAI aircraft successfully towed away
Thai Airways International announced at the press conference this evening that its Airbus A330-300 aircraft was successfully moved out of the runway, paving way for the runway fixing.
The plane skidded off the runway on September 8. Pulled out at 3pm, it was towed to the hangar.
Suvarnabhumi Airport’s East runway is now rescheduled for reopening at midnight, a 12-hour delay due to heavy rains in the past two days.
During 7am-3pm today, 78 arrival flights were delayed by 10 minutes on average, while 96 departing flights were delayed by about 20 minutes on average.
An investigation is underway to collect data, to prevent another incident. The investigative committee will also assess damage value to the airline and draw up the measures to help the affected passengers as well as a new fleet management plan.
