Shin Corp Plc will change the company name to Intouch Holdings Plc, effective on April 3.
In the statement to the Stock Exchange of Thailand, the company said that the new name and seal were registered today with the Department of Business Development, Ministry of Commerce.
The change followed a series of attacks from politically-motivated groups, who are against former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra. Thaksin's family founded the company. Though the family sold out the stake in the company in 2006, it has remained a political target.
The latest round came when the People's Democratic Reform Committee (PDRC) launched a campaign against the Shinawatra family's business. Shin and flagship business, Advanced Info Service, are the targets, despite their explanation of zero connection with the family.
"Intouch" has been introduced as a corporate name since 2011.
