Purple Line to be operational in mid-2016
The Mass Rapid Transport Authority of Thailand (MRTA) today confirms that the Purple Line electric train line (Bang Yai-Tao Poon) will be fully operational in mid-2016.
In a statement, Yongsit Rojsrikul, governor of the state agency, said that there has been progress with the construction and electrical system. Parts of the preparation process should be completed ahead of schedules.
"A recent visit to Japan convinced us that we can start the trial run at the end of 2015, for full operations in mid-2016," he said.
Marubeni-Toshiba Joint Venture wins the contract to supply train carriages and the signaling system as well as complete the service centre.
