The Thai Pavilion in Global Village Dubai has been attracting lots of interest - and revenue - during a six-month exhibition, its organisers say.

With a total area of 3,500 square metres, the event has housed exhibits by about 240 Thai investors since October, said Akavut T Kusolwong, managing director of Vega Intertrade & Exhibition (Dubai), the organiser. The exhibition closes on March 1.

He said the volume of exports and retail sales conducted through the Thai Pavilion was expected to reach billions of baht.

Visitors to the pavilion have the opportunity to visit exhibits by world-class massage and medical centres. The Thai Antiques Galleria boasts more than 70,000 handicraft items from Thailand. The visitors also enjoy delicious Thai fruits, herbal and spa treatments, and fashion products.

A food court reflects the concept "Thailand … Kitchen of the World". Visitors to the court can join the "Enjoy Thai Food and Win a Trip to Thailand" campaign, offering air tickets and accommodation in Chiang Mai.

"Seventy per cent of the investors who joined in the Thai Pavilion are former participants, while the rest are new faces who wanted to test the market in the UAE and other Middle East countries," Akavut said.
