Nation TV and NOW, the two digital terrestrial TV channels set up by Nation Multimedia Group, are all set to go on the airwaves tomorrow.

Their debuts are part of the broadcasting trial by digital TV network operators in April, when all 24 commercial digital TV channels will gradually start broadcasting.

The Nation TV news channel and NOW biz-variety channel will transmit over the network of TV Channel 5, which will show Nation TV on channel 22 and NOW on channel 26. Both channels will go live on April 1 for one day before resuming regular broadcasting on April 7.

The operator of Channel 5, which holds two digital TV network broadcasting licences, will launch full services on April 7 in Greater Bangkok, Nakhon Ratchasima, Chiang Mai and Songkhla.

Viewers with a conventional analog TV antenna need to get a digital set-top box and connect them together to receive the digital TV signal.

Those using a C-band satellite dish can access the digital TV channels tomorrow, while Ku-band users, including TrueVisions subscribers, will have to wait till April 17. CTH subscribers can start viewing on Wednesday.

All cable and satellite TV subscribers can catch Nation TV on channel 32 and NOW on channel 36.

According to the “must carry” rule of the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission, cable and satellite TV operators have to include programmes from free TV channels and the 24 commercial digital TV channels.

The NBTC is expected to award the 24 commercial digital TV licences to the bid winners on April 25.
