Mitsubishi Electric eyes further growth in air-con sales

Mitsubishi Electric Kang Yong Watana, manufacturer and distributor of electrical appliances under the Mitsubishi Electric brand, last year fortified its position as Thailand's No 1 air-conditioning company with sales of Bt12.7 billion.

This year, the company aims for sales of Bt13.5 billion, based on good performance so far in the first half.

Anun Bunjerdtum, director and general manager of marketing and sales, said 2013 sales of Bt12.7 billion exceeded the target of Bt12 billion.

He said Mitsubishi Electric was one of the few electrical-appliance brands that were able to exceed sales targets last year. He attributed this to the company's consistent quality of products and after-sales service, energy-saving technology development and eco-friendly attributes.

Mitsubishi Electric says it has made a huge change in the air-conditioning industry by being the first to use ozone-friendly refrigerants in 90 per cent of its products.

Despite the overall economic downturn and the decreased purchasing power in Thailand, consumers still believe in Mitsubishi Electric brand, it says. This allows consistent sales growth.

For its 2014 marketing plan, the company will use ozone-friendly refrigerants in the air-conditioners for large residential buildings and office buildings as the purchasing power for these products remains high.
