Mazda aims for 45% sale growth
Mazda Sales (Thailand) Co Ltd sets an aggressive target to raise its 2012 sales to 60,000 units, representing a 45 per cent increase from last year.
Last year, the company sold 41,980 units, a 19.44 per cent increase from the previous year.
In 2012, aside from the introducion of BT-50 PRO 1-ton pickup, a new truck, and new 1.6-litre Mazda3, aggressive marketing activities and sales promotions will be launched. To boost consumer confidence, the number of showrooms and after sales service centres would be raised. In 2011 Mazda raised the number of dealers from 109 to 125 and by the end of 2012 the number will reach 140.
"With our Zoom-Zoom philosophy, Mazda is preparing to stimulate the pickup segment, which is the largest portion in the Thai auto market, with the introduction of the all-new BT-50 PRO in January. Mazda is confident of creating a new trend in the pickup market with the outstanding styling of the BT-50 PRO, and most importantly, we will also strengthen our passenger car lineup with the new Mazda3 1.6 during the first quarter of this year. We will also be launching many new models to stimulate the market throughout the year, especially highly-successful models such as the limited-edition Racing Series that has been highly popular. Mazda considers this a main policy in order to freshen up our existing product on a continuous basis," said Choichi Yuki, managing director of Mazda Sales (Thailand), at a press conference today.
He added that despite major natural disasters such as the East Japan Quake and Tsunami as well as the Thai Flood Crisis, Mazda was able to quickly recover from the market decline. Aside from brisk sales, orders for Mazda vehicles are still flowing in from all over the country, and the company is speeding up deliveries to minimise the waiting period.
According to Sureetip La-Ongthong Chomthongdee, marketing director of Mazda Sales (Thailand), the company expects the total automobile market to grow by 5-6 percent in 2012, and competition in the small car and pickup truck market will be more intense than in previous years.
