KidZania operator boosts budget for Bangkok branch
KidZania, the world's fastest-growing edutainment brand, yesterday said it would increase investment in its soon-to-be-launched Bangkok branch to Bt810 million, up from Bt760 million announced previously, with 65 establishments within the complex.Scott C Schubert, chief executive officer of KidZania Bangkok, said that the new branch - its 12th globally - to be on March 29, is a meticulously realistic, scaled-down replica of a city with streets, buildings, utilities, and vehicles providing kids, aged 4-14 years, with an opportunity to experience the jobs of adults through role-playing in more than 80 different professions. The activities teach children essential life skills such as independent decision-making, teamwork and money management.
Located on the fifth floor of Siam Paragon, and covering floor space in excess of 10,000 square metres, KidZania Bangkok was built as a new landmark attraction that also boosts the capital's appeal as a regional destination with a sophisticated family edutainment product.
KidZania is now present in nine countries, including Japan, South Korea, the United Arab Emirates, Mexico, and Portugal. The company plans to open another five KidZania complexes in potential markets around the world within 2014.
The branch in Bangkok is expected to attract 4,000 visitors daily, 70 per cent of them Thai and 30 per cent foreign tourists.
