Jaguar's F-Type roars into Thailand

New coupé "promises to satisfy each customer's need for styling, performance and design"

British luxury-car maker Jaguar has given its product range in Thailand a turboboost with the introduction of the F-Type sports car.

The official launch of the F-Type comes hot on the heels of the Continental GT launch from another British luxury marque, Bentley.

The F-Type is available with two engine choices. The 5-litre V8 F-Type R model (Bt11.25 million) delivers 550hp and 680Nm, catapulting the car from a standstill to 100km/h in 4 seconds flat, and to a top speed of 299km/h. The V6 model is priced at Bt8.89 million and Bt7.999 million for the 380hp and 340hp versions, respectively.

"Jaguar Land Rover is committed to launching one important new model every year in the Thai market," said Jaguar Land Rover general manager Richard Haigh. "2014 witnesses the birth of the All New F-Type Coupé, an important model for the brand, as it represents a push into the very high performance market by Jaguar."

Haigh said the F-Type Coupé is the most dynamically capable, performance-focused production Jaguar ever, representing the apex of innovation.

"The all-new F-Type Coupé promises to satisfy each customer's needs for styling and craftsmanship, performance and design. Moreover, the All New Jaguar F-Type Coupé serves clients who are heavily motivated by distinctive styling, performance and handling - car and driving enthusiasts who are knowledgeable about cars, love driving and find every opportunity to indulge in this passion. It is truly a car for any occasion," he said.

The design of the F-Type Coupé is based on the Jaguar C-X16 concept sports coupé, the highlight of which is its dramatic cabin-rearward stance. The body is made from a single-piece aluminium pressing, while torsional rigidity is 33,000 Nm/degree - greater than any previous production car from Jaguar. The "next-generation" Electronic Active Differential and Torque Vectoring greatly enhance the coupé's agility and handling especially when tackling curves, while the car's carbon ceramic matrix braking system features 398/380mm discs front and rear, providing impressive tarmac-rippling stopping power.
