Japanese auto maker Honda scrapped its motor racing activities after suffering heavy flooding at its Ayutthaya plant in late 2011, but the company has announced new plans for its sport marketing activities.

The “Honda Day Live Night Race: The Battle Town” will be held at Muangthong Thani Lakeside on November 16, and will feature not only racing but also a live concert.
The event is organized by Honda Automobile (Thailand) Co Ltd, in collaboration with Grand Prix International Co Ltd and Fresh Air Festival Co Ltd.
This is the second time that the event is to be held, and will involve “battles” of two different musical styles and two hybrid car models. It will take place on Saturday November 16, from midday until midnight.
The event will combine three classes of road car racing including Production Car, Pro Cup 1,500-1,600cc and Pro Cup 2,000cc, along with live performances in a battle of artists from two different musical styles.
Pitak Pruittisarikorn, executive vice president, Honda Automobile (Thailand), said: “The Honda Day Live Night Race was first held in 2012 and received tremendous customer acceptance with more than 70,000 people attending and marked a new chapter in Thai motor racing history.”
He said this year's event will go further as the Honda Brio eco-car will compete in the Production Car class for the first time. For the performance show, a Honda Civic Hybrid will battle a Honda Jazz Hybrid to demonstrate the two models' unmatched performance while helping to protect the environment.
Anothai Eamlumnow, vice president of GPI, said: “The 2013 road car race will remain fun and exciting. The racing circuits are specially designed to be more challenging for racers while the safety of the racers and spectators continue to be our first priority. The entire racing circuit is equipped with safety equipment that meets the Royal Automobile Association of Thailand's standards.”
Part from motor racing and live concerts, there will also be the following:
_ Extreme Battlefield, a bicycle riding thrill show with Adventure Free Running acrobatics;
_ BMX Park Show, an extreme sport show featuring BMX bicycles performing amazing stunts;
_ A stunt show by “Ball” Suhatai Chaemsap, Thailand's leading professional motorcyclist, doing adventurous riding on a new Honda motorcycle;
_ Many other fun activities including Honda Hot Laps, Honda Pit Tour and Honda Car Club Village.
