Groupon Thailand raising funds for child health centre

Groupon Thailand, the global pioneer and leader in local e-commerce, recently launched a deal to raise operating funds for the new medical centre at the Queen Sirikit National Institute of Child Health.

Groupon Thailand subscribers donated Bt80,000 during the online campaign.

Under Groupon Grassroots for Children Hospital Foundation, which is part of the Thai operations' CSR campaign. donation campaigns were launched in 48 countries. In the US alone, 1,452 campaigns have raised US$6.53 million from 288,362 supporters nationwide.

"As the future of the nation, children need to be provided the best in every aspect especially their health. Groupon realised this fact, so we researched what organisations need our help urgently and the Children's Hospital Foundation is one of them," said Mark Cleaver, co-CEO of Groupon Thailand.

The campaign for the new medical centre was featured about three weeks and earned very positive feedback from subscribers.

The medical centre was built in honour of Her Majesty the Queen's 80th anniversary by the Siriraj Foundation, which seeks donations for impoverished patients cared for at the medicine school of Mahidol University located at Siriraj Hospital.

"Groupon's Grassroots Campaign in Thailand always involves children because for us they will be our next generation to create a better world. I'm so proud that this campaign is successful and we raised a lot of money for the Children's Hospital Foundation to help underprivileged kids. We hope that we will have this positive support from our subscribers in the next CSR campaign," he said.

For Thailand, Groupon always holds a CSR campaign quarterly at least, to give back to society. Recently, several campaigns have achieved fundraising goals for the Foundation of Slum Child Care, Asian Elephant Foundation of Thailand and World Food Programme.
