Thailand Futures Exchange (TFEX) witnessed a 38 per cent increase in the number of contracts changed hands in the first half of this year, thanks mainly to the popularity of mini SET50 futures and stock futures.

A number of 93,834 contracts were transacted on daily average during January and June, up by 38 per cent from 68,017 in the same period last year. At the end of June 2014, there were 93,462 trading accounts.
Kesara Manchusree, managing director of TFEX,  noted that on June 25, the daily transaction hit a new high with 337,627 contracts.
"Stock futures transaction of the Thai market was the 7th highest in the world in 2013," she said. Top five stock futures are linked with Bangkok Land, True Corp, Jasmine International, Krungthai Bank and Italian-Thai Development.
Index-related futures have been more active thanks to the sharp rise in the Stock Exchange of Thailand index. In the past six months, the index advanced by 19.52 per cent.
