Dtac staff responds to the corporate plan to prepare network for the holiday season traffic.

Total Access Communication (Dtac) is planning to deploy mobile BTS at New Year's Eve Countdown venues as well as areas with heavy voice and data traffic to ensure the signal quality and set up a special task force to provide 24-hour support throughout the festive period.

This is in line with the anticipation that mobile social media usage would double this year.

Panya Vechbanyongratana, senior vice president, Network Operations Division, said that Dtac and Dtac TriNet networks are prepared to cope with increased traffic during the festive season in December to the New Year 2014 celebrations in Bangkok and provinces.

Due to the boom in 3G mobile phone service, the number of smartphones in use is on the rise. Smartphone penetration increased to 29.1 per cent in the third quarter of this year thanks to better service and more affordable prices of the device.

Dtac TriNet was also launched this year with 2100 MHz base stations that cover more than 55 per cent of the population and more than 5,500 3G 2100 MHz base stations across the country. It aims to achieve nearly 10 million customers within this year.
