Thana Limpayaraya, 25, started up his own business online with only Bt100,000.

Now it generates sales of Bt20,000-Bt30,000 a day and has recorded up to 500,000 page hits since its launch only three months ago.

Thana, who is a singer for boy-band Nice to Meet You, said last week that he established his business by opening a website at a year ago after his imported gift and gadget shop at Siam Square became a victim of political violence two years ago.

"From Siam Square, I also opened a retail shop at Platinum Fashion Mall in Pratunam, but the country’s political problem also impacted my business till I decided to open a website to sell my imported products because that will not get a negative impact if the country faces political problems again," he said.

Thana, CEO of Chorchain Co, said the first time he sourced his products by travelling to South Korea and selecting merchandise to sell on the website.

After that, he tried to find out who made the products and learned that they came from China and Hong Kong.

Then he contracted directly with the manufacturers.

That got him low cost products but of the same quality. The company can sell the products on the website cheaper than the market.

He also learned from his customers what products were popular in the market by recording what orders passed through the website.

This helped the company minimise inventory and easily order stock to match customer demand.

Now more than 100 items are available online that focus on customers aged 15-40.

"In my view, if I didn’t have an online business, I would have to take time to establish my own business from cash of only Bt100,000.

"The Internet and social networks opened up business opportunities and made my dream to own a business by myself come true," he said.
