Advanced Info Service (AIS) will invest Bt1.4 billion to develop its customer services and establish more shops nationwide to serve its 42.4 million users.
The service budget is one-third of its marketing budget this year.
The telecom will spend around Bt700 million to increase the number of AIS shops from 46 to 89, and the remaining Bt700 million will be used for customer-service activities, said Vilasinee Puddhikarant, chief customer-service officer.
She added that this year, AIS would have around 250,000 service points nationwide. Besides this Bt1.4 billion, AIS will spend another Bt400 million on upgrading 129 of the 450 Telewiz shops nationwide to provide an equal level of service as its own customer-service shops. Telewiz shops are operated by a franchisor.
Vilasinee said the number of subscribers to AIS’s second-generation cellular service was expected to fall to around 8 million by the end of this year, from 16.1 million users now.
Currently AIS has 26.3 million 3G users out of a total of 42.4 million subscribers and expects the 3G proportion to reach 33 million by year-end.
