Two killed in giant firecrackers in Chiang Mai during Loy Krathong festival



Chiang Mai - Two people were killed when their home-made giant firecrackers exploded during the 4-day Loy Krathong festival, a senior public health officer said Friday.

Surasing Wisarutrat, Chiang Mai deputy chief public health officer, said one person was killed in Mae Rim district and anther in Mae Taeng district during the four day period from November 10 to 13.

He said 61 persons were injured in explosions of the firecrackers during the period.

Last year, no one was killed but 181 were injured by firecracker explosions during the Loy Krathong period, he said.
