Cabinet okays TITV's transformation

The Cabinet Tuesday approved the transformation of TITV to a service delivery unit (SDU) under the Public Relations Department's supervision and relaxed the disbursement rules and regulations.

PM's Office Minister Khunying Dhipavadee Meksawan said after the Cabinet meeting Tuesday that the relaxation would allow the PRD to disburse its money collected from TITV in financing the TV station's operations.

Since March 8 when iTV's broadcasting license was revoked and the station was renamed TITV and fell under control of the PRD, all revenue has been submitted to the PRD but it could not be disbursed, leaving the station to live on limited budgets. While not receiving salary since March, staffs have complained that they were travelling to provinces without any allowances. Recently, programme producers loaned an amount of Bt8 million to help continue the operation.

"Five executive members will be appointed soon to ensure the transformation of TITV to an SDU," Dhipavadee said.
