Thai share prices closed 1.22 per cent higher Monday as investors downplayed the effects of an upcoming court ruling on the future of Thailand's two main political parties, dealers said.

They said the buying of energy-linked stocks also boosted the market.

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) composite index rose 8.79 points to 727.93 while the blue-chip SET 50 index gained 7.72 to 516.09.
