Wall St up on earnings

Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 15,928.56, up 90.68 points, or 0.6 per cent after worst 5-day fall since 2012 as investors welcomed better-than-expected quarterly corporate earnings.

S&P 500 gained 10.94 points, or 0.6 per cent at 1,792.50, with health care and financials leading and technology the sole laggard of the 10 major sectors.

Nasdaq composite added 14.35 points, or 0.4 per cent at 4,097.96.
