Wall St ends up

U.S. stocks closed higher overnight, with Dow industrials and S&P 500 again closing at new highs, with Apple and Facebook stocks leading the rally in the technology sector amid consumer sentiment at a 5-month high and higher spending in November.

Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 73.47 points, or 0.5 per cent, to 16,294.61, while S&P 500 rose 9.67 points, or 0.5 per cent, to 1,827.99,

with technology and telecommunications the best performing

of its 10 sectors and consumer staples and utilities the laggards.

Nasdaq composite ended at a 13-year high, adding 44.16 points, or 1.1 per cent at 4,148.90.
