Wall St ends up

U.S. shares closed up, wiping out most of previous week’s losses, after Federal Reserve reaffirmed its policies on bond purchases and record-low interest rates.

Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 55.91 points, or 0.39 per cent to close at 14,511.73.

S&P 500 added 10.37 points, or 0.67 per cent at 1,558.71, led by consumer discretionary and consumer staples.

Nasdaq composite rose 25.09 points, or 0.78 per cent at 3,254.19.
