Wall St ends up

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 46.02 points, or 0.36 percent, to close at 12,984.69, just below the psychological 13,000 level.

The S&P 500 indexgained 5.80 points, or 0.43 percent, to close at 1,363.46.

Nine out of 10 key S&P sectors ended in positive territory, led by banks; utilities finished in the red.

The Nasdaq rallied 23.81 points, or 0.81 per cent at 2,956.98, snapping a three-day losing streak.
