Wall St ends slightly lower

U.S. stocks closed slightly lower as investors considered timing of reduced monetary stimulus from the Federal Reserve and monitored budget negotiations on Capitol Hill.

Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 52 points, or 0.3 per cent, to 15,973.13.

S&P 500 fell 5.75 points, or 0.3 per cent, to 1,802.62, with utilities and consumer staples the worst performing of its 10 major sectors.

Nasdaq composite dropped 8.26 points, or 0.2 per cent, to 4,060.49.
