Wall St ends sharply down

U.S. stocks closed sharply lower, Dow Jones extending losses into a third session on disappointing China’s manufacturing activitiy data and mixed corporate quarterly reports.

S&P 500 fell 16.40 points, or 0.9 per cent, to 1,828.46, with the financial sector hardest hit and telecommunications only sector with gains.

Nasdaq composite slipped 24.13 points, or 0.6 per cent, to 4,218.87.
