Wall St ends near highs

U.S. stocks closed near session highs overnight, with all key S&P sectors ending up

amid light trade and caution ahead of next week’s corporate earnings reports.

Dow Jones Industrial Average surged 80.71 points, or 0.60 per cent at 13,471.22.

S&P 500 added 11.10 points, or 0.76 per cent at 1,472.12.

All key S&P sectors closed in positive territory, led by financials and energy.

Nasdaq composite gained 15.95 points, or 0.51 per cent at 3,121.76.
