Wall St ends lower

U.S. stocks fell sharply overnight, first negative start this year, as downgrade of Apple hit technology shares and improved economic data failed to move investors.

Dow Jones Industrial Average lost 135.31 points, or 0.8 per cent, to 16,441.35.

S&P 500 fell 16.38 points, or 0.9 per cent, to 1,831.98, while Nasdaq composite fell 33.52 points, or 0.8 percent, to 4,143.07.
