Wall St ends lower

U.S. stocks closed near unchanged on Thursday, with the Dow gained 11.11 points at a new high of 16,179.08 on mixed economic data.

S&P 500 lost 1.05 points, less than 0.1 percent, to 1,809.60, with utilities leading laggard and energy stocks performing best among its 10 major sectors.

Nasdaq fell 11.93 points, or 0.3 per cent, to 4,058.13.

The U.S. dollar climbed against other global currencies, and the 10-year Treasury note yield rose 3 basis points to 2.92 per cent.
