Village head, two deputies killed in Yala ambush

Yala - A village headman and two deputies were killed in an ambush in this southern border province Wednesday afternoon.

The attackers also beheaded Urai Tubthong, 42, a female deputy village head, police said.
The attack happened at 2:45 pm on the road leading to Kalang village in Tambon Tanoh Pu of Yala’s Bannang Sata district.
Ia Sithong, 46, the headman of the Kalang village, was killed with Urai and another female deputy, Chaliew Pikulklin, 49.
The three were returning to their village in a pick-up truck after attending a meeting in Bannang Sata district.
The attackers took an assault rifle and revolvers of the three.
