UDD issues statement

The United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) Tuesday issued a five-points statement.

First, House dissolution is in line with the democratic rule, to allow Thais to cast their votes.

Second, the royal decree on the election demands the Cabinet to stay on, which is under the Constitution. Suthep Thaugsuban’s refusal to the election and the interim government’s power is in violation of the Constitution, the Criminal Code and the royal decree.

Third, Suthep’s demand for direct reports from government officials and the establishment of the People’s Council is considered an act of treason.

Fourth, should there be a coup, all Thais are urged to voice their opposition.

Fifth, the Election Commission is bound to hold elections, or there will be a clash between democratic and non-democratic forces.
