Tropico 5 simulation game banned in Thailand

New Era Thailand, a major games distributor, has confirmed that the Movies and Videos Screening Office of the Cultural Promotion Office, has banned it from distributing a popular simulation game, Tropico 5, in Thailand.

The office reasoned that the game's content was deemed detrimental to Thailand's national security. New Era will not appeal against the decision. The game was developed by Kalypso Media.

The game lets players to play the role of a president commissioned by an emperor to build up colony on an island that can later declare independence from the emperor.
