Traffic Police Eye project launched
Metropolitan Police Tuesday launched the "Traffic Police Eye" project to report traffic conditions real-time via Internet Potocol (IP) at 20 pilot police stations.
Deputy city police chief Pol Maj Gen Worasak Nopsittiporn said the 20 IP cameras, provided through police's cooperation with 3BB Wi-fi, could send clear live feed of traffic conditions to the traffic control centre on Vibhavadi Road or traffic police's smart phones installed with the application, so they could use information to timely tackle traffic jams in Bangkok. The camera feeds could also help in crime suppression works. So far police had installed 20 of such IP cameras at various intersections and hoped it would help curb the city's severe traffic, he added.
