Toyota to suspend production on April 5
Toyota Motor Thailand has joined the private sector's effort to help the government save electricity on April 5, with the announcement that it will suspend the production on the day.
"Referring to the government’s concern over possible power blackout or brownout at some areas, on April 5 when power reserves will fall to the lowest level manufacturing plants are urged to reduce power consumption. Toyota is committed to full cooperation," Kyoichi Tanada, president of TMT, said in a statement.
All the three plants in Thailand will be suspended, with extra production being planned for April 4. Tanada said that TMT has also discussed with all suppliers on such cooperation, to suspend production or reduce output, for concrete and wide-scale energy saving.
