Three policemen killed in Narathiwat's blast
After a pause in devastative insurgent attacks in recent weeks, a roadside bomb in Narathiwat's Rue Soh district Friday killed three policemen, including a decidated much-decorated senior officer, and wounded three other seriously.
The bomb, made highly powerful using 90 kilogrammes of explosives, was so powerful that it caused a crater covering three metres in witdh and nearly two metres in depth at a bridge it was buried, while sending the vehicle several metres away. The six occupants were travelling in their jurisdiction in Rue Soh district on an administrative duty.
The three fallen officers are Pol Lt Colonel Jakkrit Wongphrommes, Pol Sergeant Piya Phoophanwer Pol Corporal Suwes Jantharangsee. Jakkrit, 49, was known to have dedicated himself to peace building while instrumental in suppression of insurgents’ activities and foiling of several violent attacks.
