Pantongtae Shinawatra, the son of former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, Tuesday proposed an election of an interim prime minister to carry out reforms of the country.

He offered the condition in a message posted on his Facebook wall as a compromise with Suthep Thaugsuban, the secretary general of the People’s Democratic Reform Committee.
Pantongtae said most people would definitely not accept the choice of interim prime minister proposed by Suthep.
“We should have a process to elect a prime minister to work for a short period of time during the reforms. When the reforms are done, he will hold an election and the Democrat could contest the poll so tha the country could move forward,” Pantongtae said.
