A rheumatism specialist will head to Cambodia next week to treat Thai Patriot Network leader Veera Somkwamkid, Foreign Ministry spokesman Thani Thongphakdi said Friday.
Thani said the ministry had asked the doctor from Rajvithi Hospital to visit Veera in Phnom Penh’s Prey Sar prison.
The Cambodian government jailed Veera and Ratree Pipattanapaiboon for espionage last year.
Foreign Minister Surapong Towichukchaikul said that though he had not been given Veera’s latest medical report, he had heard that the man’s hands were swollen and probably painful. Also, medication available in Cambodia is different from what is prescribed in Thailand.
